If there is an animal welfare organisation I can wholeheartedly recommend in the larger-Chennai area, it would be the Madras Animal Rescue Society (MARS). Sarah’s and Gerry’s dedication to their cause is unquestionable. They have devoted their entire lives to caring for the most deprived dogs of Chennai. I worked with Sarah on a street dog sterilisation program. She was able to mobilise a team to sterilise 200 dogs in the highly touristic Mahabalipuram area. Operations were done to the highest standard, preserving the health and wellbeing of the street animals involved. Sarah and Gerry do this work out of love, and therefore inspire wholehearted trust. I hope that many people will decide to support their work.

“Blissful , Content , Happy and Positive are few of the many adjectives that reflect the state of the 140 dogs in MARS a shelter run by Sarah Solomon and her husband Jerry. Having visited the shelter a couple of times, I have made the following observations. The shelter is sparkling clean , there are no unwarranted surprises when we walk along with the dogs. I wish them all the very best and hope they grow from strength to strength!!!

I was looking for a shelter for an acid attack dog that people told me about Sarah and her shelter Daaman.
She was then setting the kennels up and looking for man power. Later I visited the place to leave one of my rescued paraplegic puppy and the moment I reached the gate it felt I was living a dream. So many rescued babies, close to 100 roaming around free in a three acre property in complete harmony. It was something I had not seen before.
I now frequently visit the place. Thank you Sarah and Gerry!
