140 dogs in MARS a shelter

Blissful , Content , Happy and Positive are few of the many adjectives that reflect the state of the 140 dogs in MARS a shelter run by Sarah Solomon and her husband Jerry.

• Having visited it a couple of times the shelter I have made the following observations.

• The shelter is sparkling clean , there are no unwarranted surprises when we walk along with the dogs

• Each dog because of the love ,attention and care given live harmoniously without being aggressive with one another, not one dog is tied up or needs to be kept isolation , a unique quality which am yet to witness in any other shelter

• There is no compromise on the quality and quantity on the food given to the 140 dogs and the process is carried out meticulously for all the meals .

• Each dog has a name which is a reflection of the love and individual attention given to each dog .. The only time one hears the dogs bark are when they have visitors else all seem to be either basking in the sun , having fun or nudging the visitors for some cuddle time … A rear and unique quality in a shelter that houses 140 dogs

• It can be easily called a heaven for the paralytic dogs as the sand which is changed often aids them in better mobility and reduces the chances of injuries .

• The shelter is ideal for kids to get a tutorial in compassion. My 9 year old daughter’s ideal day would be spending time with all the dogs and puppies and not once does she complain of getting bored and wishes that her day never ends.

Each dog is vaccinated ,sterilized and so well behaved which is remarkable and makes visitors interact with the dogs without any qualms .

The passion of the caregivers towards the shelter is creditable and in the past year of interaction not once have I seen a dip in their zeal and commitment towards the fur babies inspite of the numbers increasing and bracing day to day difficulties!!!
