Founded in 2019, Madras Animal Rescue Society is a Chennai based registered NGO working to improve welfare for mainly disabled animals.
We are the first here to focus solely on disabled and old animals and giving them a new lease of life.
We work together with the government and other shelters to find solutions to the most critical issues in animal welfare.
With the number of shelters in the city of Chennai that provide care. Only a small percentage of these follow proper animal welfare due to many reasons, like limited knowledge and understanding by the staff, lack of expertise and limited resources.
Our aim is to work with all these and support them to improve the care being given.
We believe in a compassionate, empathy-based approach to animal welfare. Our work is bringing the welfare of animals to the forefront of public and policy agendas locally and then statewide. The issue of poor animal welfare and abuse cannot be resolved single-handedly, but together we can change minds, attitudes and practices and help improve welfare for many animals.
