A shelter for an acid attack dog

It was in early 2020 when I was looking for a shelter for an acid attack dog that people told me about Sarah and her shelter Daaman.

She was then setting the kennels up and looking for man power. Later I visited the place to leave one of my rescued paraplegic puppy and the moment I reached the gate it felt I was living a dream. So many rescued babies, close to 100 roaming around free in a three acre property in complete harmony. It was something i had not seen before.

I now frequently visit the place. Sarah and Gerry run the shelter single handedly and they make sure each one is tended to. The food, the medicine, placing the paraplegic in closed enclosures at night, remembering each ones name and medical history is something remarkable about the two of them.

During the rains when the shelter was flooded I saw them walking in waist deep water trying to cook and feed each one and spread blankets on the high ground to keep them warm.

The place now has close to 140 rescue kiddos, some are old, some blind but mostly they have paraplegic kiddos. The sand in the shelter and physiotherapy by Sarah and Gerry has cured so many and put them back on their feet.

My husband a retired Air Force officer Wg. Cdr. Shaleen Suri, now heading a multi national company IT operatins in India and me Kamya Suri an education consultant have never seen a shelter so well looked after in our entire 54 years on this earth.

May Daman get all the help, love and blessings to keep doing the amazing work they do.
