Sarah Iyer is a psychology major by education and an educator by profession. Her vast span of work experience has seen her juggling multiple professions ranging from a media professional, a soft skill trainer to also being an educator for children with special needs.
At Daaman she dons the hat of a super woman, dog momma, caretaker, physiotherapist and many more.
“It was always my mother’s dream to start a dog shelter. When it came down to it, I think I realised there was a pressing need for a top class facility that would cater to the need of paraplegic dogs who were otherwise being euthanized”.
Sarah along with a team of volunteers has successfully managed to conduct sterilisation and vaccination camps in different villages at Mahabalipuram.
Owing to her work in animal welfare, she has been presented with the honour of being a core member in the ABC committee of the Greater Chennai Corporation.

Gerry is a consultant by profession who was accredited with the title of being one of the top media editors in India. Being put to study in a boarding school at Mount Abu, Gerry recalls taking care of birds, squirrels, rabbits, guinea pigs, white mice and sometimes snakes too.
“This experience at a very tender age helped instil a sense of profound love and fondness in me that still continues to grow with age.”
Gerry together with Sarah, built their dream shelter – Daaman that has also come to be their home today.
At Daaman, Gerry dons the hat of a super dada, paravet, caretaker and many more.
“Whenever you spend some quality time with any animal, you are left with a sense of profound peace and love. There lies the magic.”
